I was working as a developer in London back in 1999 when the now-famous HTML email system hotmail really began to gain popularity. I liked the idea of the email address hotcoder@hotmail.com so I registered it and used it for the next few years. Hotmail fell out of fashion but I guess the hotcoder handle just stuck; I registered hotcoder.co.uk as a domain and have used it ever since.
